Health
workshops
Students work collaboratively to develop health promotion workshops on various topics including mental health, self-care, and vaccinations under supervision of faculty health care professionals. Students deliver these workshops to community members at partner facilities throughout the city including The Shelter House, Anishnawbe Mushkiki, Lakehead Public Schools, and John Howard Society.
If you have an idea of a workshop that could be beneficial to your organization, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Resource
MAP
After completing a needs assessment of resources in Thunder Bay in 2014, we developed an interactive map listing services and resources available in the community. The map makes locating and connecting with service providers easy and straightforward.
You can find the full map here.
While we are still happy to share our map, it is outdated and may contain some inaccuracies.
This map by 211 is interactive and regularly updated.
speaker
sERIES
Compass North has previously hosted a Social Accountability Speaker Series with the goal of fostering social accountability in the current and next generation of health professionals, and as a mechanism for recruiting student members and faculty advisers.
In Partnership with RAZ, Compass North is currently hosting a Speaker Series wherein local professionals and community members will present on various topics like determinants of health, underserved communities, and interprofessional collaboration.
Our goal is to ensure that we, as learners and future health care providers, remain socially accountable to the populations of Northern Ontario.
Check out our events page for upcoming
speaker series dates.
Vaccination
clinics
We run annual vaccination clinics in October or November in association with Anishnawbe Mushkiki and NorWest Community Health Centre. Please see our events page for vaccination clinic dates in the fall!
Research
conferences
Compass North has a very engaged research committee. Students consolidate data from our current projects including our health workshops and vaccination clinics into clinical research pieces. Student representatives have presented research findings at local and international conferences including Northern Constellations and the Society of Student Run Free Clinics.
ESCAPE

We are currently working on developing a series of escape rooms to warn youth about the dangers of vaping.
